Lingering showers and storms continue across the High Plains
early this morning, along with lingering showers continuing across
portions of southern Missouri and southeast Kansas. In general,
this activity is expected to wane going into the mid-morning
hours, but additional showers and storms will develop across
western Kansas and southwest Nebraska by late morning or early
afternoon. Strong to severe storms are forecast to move across
much of the central plains during the afternoon and evening hours,
and some may continue their intensity well into the nighttime
hours. In general, afternoon highs today will be in the 70s and
80s, while overnight lows will be in the 50s and 60s.

For Friday, storm chances shift eastward into portions of eastern
Nebraska and eastern Kansas, along with much of Missouri and Iowa.
Some of these storms could be strong to severe during the
afternoon and evening hours. Afternoon highs on Friday will range
from the upper 80s across southern and eastern portions of the
central plains, to the upper 60s across northern and western
portions of the region. Overnight lows on Friday will once again
dip into the 50s and 60s, while portions of the High Plains dip
into the 40s.
